Review of Giant Tank's show
at CCA with V/VM.
As any arts centre goer knows,
you get a fair amount on poncey pretentious cunts at these gigs.Indeed
old men with white pony tails were discussing some highbrow matter
in the main hallway and the bar was full of peeps talkign about
how kid 606 was playing in edinburgh. No matter, because the bar
served hoegaarden, so i charged my glass and got half cut before
joining the live audience.
Giant tanks had already been
playing for a while, and i came in during their noise rock finale.
incorporating noise bass, trumpet, drums guitar and laptop squiggles,
the cacophony was enjoyable enough, without ever really rising
above an indulgent jam. however it was played with gusto, and
the on stage spectacle raised a smile. These kids were really
enjoying themselves. James from V/Vm later told them they were
like Black Dice but better... a fair comment.
